Not Too Shabby! I tried a pair of regular Montrail Gore-Tex shoes out at a store a while back and they had no cushion what so ever! I am a bit of a "heal striker" and it is so hard to find cushy trail shoes. These suckers are definitely soft in the heel, and not just in the insole. You stand a little high in them, so if you are a hard trail runner and prone to rolling ankles these shoes may no be for you? They do, though, have good ankle support to compensate. They have a lot of flexibility compared to many other Gore-Tex trail shoes, and have a decent amount of traction. When flyin' up hill, down hill and around switch-backs my feet are pretty darn happy. They even make good hikers. Even though they may be a little pricy, the comfort is worth the extra few bucks.

What width & size are you?
The general rule is that standard Men's width is D. For Women, the standard width is B. If most of the shoes you have purchased in the past have a comfortable width then go with the default.
If the shoes you are wearing feel overly wide, you should consider selecting a narrower width size. Shop For Narrow Shoes.

If your feet seem "between" sizes and you cannot decide which size to select, we suggest you choose the larger size. You can make adjustments for a better fit with socks, insoles, or a different lacing pattern.
Try shoes on later in the day when your feet are at their largest.
Sizing Tips
The heel should not slip, the midfoot of the shoe under your arch and over the top of your foot should be snug but not tight; and you should have enough room in the toe area to wiggle your toes.
Women's feet often become a half-size (or more) larger after pregnancy.
Feet typically get bigger with age. People are more than twice as likely to buy a shoe that is too small than too big.
Boots are often worn with bulky socks, while sandals are hopefully not. Sizing may be affected with how much extra padding you have.
Heat makes your feet swell and cold may shrink them. Think about temperature when choosing sizes.
Fully utilize a the return policy by ordering multiple sizes, then keep what fits best and return the rest.
